Arts/Technology Centre

In 2000, the Senior Campus in Waurn Ponds realized the importance of establishing separate areas for specialized subjects. Senior arts and design students required more and more spacious studio areas in which to design, compile and create their work.

The opportunity to expand the Arts/Technology faculty came in 2004 with the purchase by Christian College, of the Geelong Epicentre, a unique large ‘adobe’ complex that had originally been built as a restaurant  within an extensive vineyard. Not only were the buildings  conducive to creativity, but were expansive enough to cater for visual arts, design and technology studies as well as mixed media works using wood, paint and textiles.

Appropriately named Villa Paloma – House of the Dove – the centre is now also used to showcase student art work at all levels of the College at the Annual Arts Extravaganza held in October each year. Local artists are very supportive of the specialist art classes held at the Senior Arts/Technology centre.

Many Christian College students have continued into visual arts courses and careers having developed their skills and passion for art under the direction of the dedicated staff at Villa Paloma.
