Year 3
Belmont and Bellarine
As students move into Year Three they are encouraged to discover and develop an awareness of their own relationship with God as well as assisting them to understand the challenges of living a ‘Christ centred’ lifestyle in a modern society. Students begin this walk with God within an atmosphere of care and concern for themselves and others, as they develop their Christian character.
In Literacy the program is based upon establishing and extending the student’s experiences with spoken and written texts. Emphasis is placed on teaching students to use written and spoken language appropriately in both formal and informal situations and on expanding their vocabulary. L.O.T.E Japanese studies enhance this learning.
The Mathematics curriculum covers the four strands of Number, Space, Measurement and Chance and Data. Students learn, develop and practice new concepts and skills through participation in whole group and individual activities.
At Year Three level in Integrated Studies the students complete a wide variety of units encompassing the many personal and community factors that are encountered in everyday life. Activity based learning at the Melbourne Aquarium and Scienceworks are among the highlights of the year along with students’ involvement in the Dance group, the Sprockets and Flares computer challenge, the Junior School Choir and many sporting events and teams.
Year 3 students have had an exciting year working on team building and drawing together as a community which will be important as they become the leaders of Junior School in Year 4.
