Year 9

Highton and Bellarine

Year 9 provides opportunities for leadership as Prefects and House Captains or as mentors to younger students at both our Middle Schools. The final year at Middle School is a time when considerable academic preparation is made for Senior School studies. Staff recognize the importance of ensuring a smooth transition and excellent preparation across the wide range of VCE studies which are offered at all levels of Senior School.

The ‘Back Creek’ residential rural studies program provides our Year 9’s with many experiences, opportunities, challenges and memories that will remain with them for life. The unique nature of the rural stay, which offers students the single gender community living, assists in nurturing friendships, teamwork, conflict resolution, leadership, acceptance and tolerance.

These qualities and attributes have been reflected back at school in the student’s behaviour, attitude and demeanour, which has had a positive flow on effect to the whole Bellarine student body, due to our Year 9’s being influential student leaders.

The responsibility and trust that is placed in the students during their  time at the dairy farm in Scotsburn leads to greater maturity.

The ‘Back Creek’ experience  also gives students valuable opportunities to continue growing in their individual faith within majestic surroundings.
