Year Prep

Belmont and Bellarine

Year Prep. is an exciting time of new beginnings both socially and academically. In a safe and secure Christian environment, students take their first steps towards independence and begin developing friendships with others in the class.

Through a range of activities, the children are encouraged to build their literacy and numeracy skills, thus providing a foundation for lifelong learning. Furthermore the children are introduced to key concepts in other learning areas like Integrated Studies and specialist subjects including LOTE (Japanese).

In Literacy, Prep children first learn to recognize sounds and gradually link these into words and sentences. Counting skills learned in Numeracy allow the students to develop the ability to both add and subtract. Integrated Studies brings the world of discovery into the classroom, where students are encouraged to strive in order to achieve a measure of success in all they do.

Throughout the Preparatory  year the children are provided with the opportunity to learn about the world around them within a nurturing, encouraging and supportive environment. Each child’s individual strengths are celebrated and acknowledged as God- given talents and gifts.

Our Prep. students participate in many activities which aim to build their creative processes and to enhance their knowledge about their community. They participate with enthusiasm in a Year Prep. camp which gives all the children the opportunity to build friendships, independence and understanding.  Our Year Prep students eagerly embrace a love of learning within a Christian values framework.
