The study of English, and the broader concept of literacy extends and enriches each student’s knowledge, skills and appreciation of the God-given gift of language. Through language use, students convey and discover information, work through ideas and express feelings.
Having attained at Junior levels, the vital skills of literacy through reading, speaking, listening and writing grammatically, English study then empowers students to present their point of view articulately and confidently. Students explore a wide range of print, media and digital texts in order to expand their literacy horizons and to enable them to appreciate the simplicity and complexity of language in God’s world.
It is our aim to help students to become active and informed citizens who can take a responsible role in their community, and who can make wise decisions by understanding the world in which they live.
