Christian College Geelong began in 1980 from humble beginnings, when a single wing of the St Augustine’s Orphanage in Highton was leased to create a small school of 60 students, with classes from Prep to Year 10.

Despite a small number of enrolments in the foundation years, the College’s Board, families and staff always maintained a strong faith that Christian College would grow into a significant addition to the educational landscape of the Geelong region, as so it would eventually come to fruition.

As enrolments grew, the opportunity arose in 1987 to purchase the buildings and playing fields at the original grounds in Highton, now known as our Middle School – Highton, and Christian College then became a pilot school for the introduction of VCE studies.

This transformation ensured students would be offered all the advantages of completing their entire educational journey, from Kindergarten to Year 12, at one College.

As more families embraced these advantages and the values of a Christian College education, our Board made further landmark decisions in the years that followed.

Firstly, creating Junior School – Belmont, from Kindergarten to Year 4, at the former Glastonbury Orphanage in Belmont, and then secondly, establishing our Bellarine Campus, for Prep to Year 9 at the former Bellarine Shire Offices in Drysdale.

Then, in 2000, the purchase of the former Geelong Grammar complex in Pigdons Road, Waurn Ponds allowed our College to establish the Senior School – Waurn Ponds, allowing students from Years 10 to 12 to focus on specialist learning within an environment conducive to the rigours of senior level studies.

Another significant moment occurred in 2017, when our College commenced its expansion into the Surf Coast area with the opening of Butterfield House Kindergarten and Care in Torquay.

In 2018, our College is set to open its newest Campus at another Torquay property overlooking the Spring Creek Valley. The new ‘Surf Coast Campus’ will begin with enrolments for Prep students, and then grow over time to cover all year levels from Prep to Year 9.
