The Year 10 Our World elective class and Principal, Glen McKeeman have returned safely from their trip to the central desert of the Northern Territory.
This trip is an incredible experience visiting outback places such as Uluru, Coober Pedy, Alice Springs and the particular highlight of spending time in the Alcoota School working with the indigenous children
‘The students really get to see first-hand the indigenous community and the remoteness and size of our country, which young people don't really understand until they see,’ Mr McKeeman says.
The students spend three days travelling and get to see parts of Australia you don't usually see on the general tourist route, so places such as Port Augusta and Coober Pedy.
Before Christian College goes to Alcoota, the teachers weave the visit into their curriculum, allowing students from the two schools to learn from each other despite their geographic distance.
