Junior School, Belmont Prep and Year 1 students experienced an exciting Japanese lesson recently. Using ‘Skype’ the students connected with Year 6 students from the ‘Assumption Primary School’ in Osaka, Japan.
The Christian College students were able to practice their names and greetings in Japanese and the Assumption students spoke in English asking questions regarding Australian home-life.
This was a great opportunity to utlise the Japanese words and sentences the students have been learning and for them to continue to develop their language skills.
Talking to a stranger from another country and using a different language was a big challenge but a positive tool to lift the students’ confidence.
Christian College teachers are hoping to continue using Skype as a learning tool in the classroom.
