Senior VCAL Personal Development students worked collaboratively with Diversitat and Afghani students from North Geelong Secondary College to construct a ‘Chai Khana’ Pop Up Tea Tent for the ‘Geelong After Dark’ event on Friday 8th May.
This was a youth led project providing the opportunity for young people to gain valuable employability and communication skills as well as offering a welcoming and interesting space where Afghani culture could be shared with the Geelong community.
The Senior VCAL students were involved in designing and the construction of 6 lit up frames that formed the walls of the pop up room. They were lucky to be able to utilise the skills and expertise of Andy Phillips (College Maintenance staff member) who mentored the boys through the construction phase to produce a quality product.
