A group of Year 8 students from Middle School in Highton recently visited the Conservation Ecology Centre at Cape Otway as part of their Environmental Studies to observe the conservation programs for the critically endangered Tiger Quolls.
During the day the students observed dogs being trained to identify traces of the endangered species in the wild, and assisted with the maintenance work on the Tiger Quoll enclosure.
They also went for a bush walk through the Otway National Park to see what impacts koala numbers are having on the Manna Gum.
The students had an interesting day being involved with the not-for-profit organisation and they enjoyed meeting and discussing critical conservation issues with leading scientists.
