Over the recent Holiday break, we had 20 of our College students compete at the Victorian Interschools Championships.
At this event, students compete across several Equestrian disciplines including, Dressage, Show Horse, Combined Training, Show Jumping and Games held across the week.
Several families made the event a family holiday and enjoyed each other’s company whilst camping at Werribee Park.
Equestrian Co-Captains, Year 12 students Daene McDonald and Kaitlyn Church, led our team most ably. Other team riders were: Year 11 students Erin Young, Bronte Kerger, Emma Vallance, Year 9 student Shanae Jenkinson, Year 8 student Charlotte Sheldon, Year 7 students Bianca Lock, Rohan Lock, Ava Halloran and Ethan Young. Also Year 6 students Eliza Bell, Tahlia Spagnardi, Anikka Dalton and Georgia May Year 6 as well as Year 5 students Tilley Fair, Sophie Taylor, Sophie Gallagher, Riley Taylor and Kiara Spagnardi.
This unique event brings together students from different campuses and year levels into the one team. They all rode very well in a very competitive event and should be very proud of their efforts and congratulated for gaining 4th place behind Braemar College, Haileybury College and Geelong Grammar School.
Individual honours and possible selection into the State team to represent Victoria at the National Interschool Championships were also decided with several of our team members achieving either a top 3 overall event placing and/or selection into the State team including, Bronte Kerger (Dressage), Riley Taylor & Eliza Bell (Combined Training), Tilley Fair & Bianca Lock (Show Jumping). Several other students in the team also were presented with ribbons for a top 6 placing in 1 of their event classes.
The final places in the Victorian team will be decided after the Victorian Equestrian Interschool Grand Final to be held on August 1st and 2nd at Werribee Park.
