At the 2012 Barwon Sports Academy Awards evening, the talents of Christian College students were recognised.
Year 8 Bellarine student Jakara Anthony
won the prestigious 2012 Geelong Advertiser Junior Sports Star for her achievements in Mogul Skiing. The Geelong Advertiser Award is recognised as the highest award for Junior Sport in the Barwon Region. Jakara also won the Individual Scholarship Holder Development Award at the Barwon Sports Academy
, Year 10 was a nominee for the Geelong Advertiser Sports Star Award for his outstanding achievements in Mountain Bike racing.
, Year 9 at the Bellarine Campus, won the TAC Community Award, for her outstanding efforts in raising money for charitable organisations and for her support with a number of community related events. In her speech Michaela acknowledge the support of the College in relation to community involvement.
Year 9 Highton student Jack Murdoch
was presented the Development Award for Golf.
National Surfing Championships
Five Christian College students were selected to represent Victoria at the National Schools Surfing Championships, held in Tasmania in early December. To be selected for a Victorian team is an excellent achievement and all students are to be congratulated on their efforts. Highlights;
- Tristan Forras, Year 10 teamed with Walter Hiatt (Wonthaggi Secondary College) to win the All Star Schools Under 19 event.
- Zoey Clarke, Year 9 placed second in the Under 16 Individual National Championships
- Christian College Geelong had two teams – Under 16 Boys; Cody, Year 10 & Micky Robinson, Year 8 and Under 19 Girls; Zoe Clarke and Maddie Corstorphan represent Victoria in the Mark Richards School event
- In addition to the 5 selected surfers Grace Day, Year 8 also qualified to compete at the event.
Christian College congratulates all these students on their outstanding achievements.
