Our Year 11 students studying ‘Australian History and Legal Studies’ recently spent three days in Canberra, where they met both Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Julie Bishop, and Sarah Henderson, Federal Member for Corangamite.
From an Australian History perspective, our students visited the War Memorial, the National Museum and the National Gallery, allowing them to not only read but truly value and appreciate the story of our nation, and those who have fought to protect the way of life we have today.
Our students were given the chance to witness democracy in action firsthand, seeing our legal and political systems in operation through visits to both Parliament House and the High Court.
The time in Parliament House coincided with the first sitting following the handing down of the Federal Budget, which meant our students got to see our political representatives pursuing their opinions with true rigour and vitality!
