Last month the Year 5 students and their Year 9 mentors took part in a hands-on Math’s activities session at the Middle Campus, Highton.
Mentors worked with the student groups, organising, guiding and encouraging the students to become fully involved in activities that included – calculating average times (taken from a running activity), capacity (filling containers with water), multiplication/ addition (from goal shooting) distance (taken from making and throwing paper planes) and direction (a treasure hunt). The session ended with sharing pizza together for morning tea.
The Year 5 students love spending time with their mentors and really enjoyed their involvement on the day.
