Christian College students have excelled in many varieties of sport recently and we congratulate their success.
House Cross Country
The College encourages all of our students to participate in the House Cross Country. Whilst we acknowledge that running is not everyone favoured event, running, jogging or walking for up to 30 minutes is something we encourage our students to partake in each day. We congratulate all students who participated and acknowledge the students who placed in the top 3 of their event.

The top 10 runners from each event progress on to the next level of completion; Year 4 – 6 through the School Sport Victoria pathway and Year 7 – 12 compete at the GISSA Carnival.
At the Year 4 – 6 Deakin District Cross Country 19 Christian College students progressed through to the North Geelong Division event. We wish these athletes all the best as they strive to reach the State Final.
Congratulations to the Christian College Surfing Championship team that placed 2nd at the Victorian Independent Schools Surfing Championships at Jan Juc. Led by Captains Zoe Clarke and Darcy Day, the team combined very well to be beat more highly ranked schools. Tully Wylie (Year 9), Angus Castle (Year 7) and Nick Vanner (Year 10) were the highlight performers on the day.
A talented team of athletes from the Highton, Bellarine and Senior School competed at the GISSA Athletic Championships.
Led by Captains Emily Ramsay and Elliot Hackett, Christian College remained the dominant school, winning every section; Junior Boys, Junior Girls, Senior Boys and Senior Girls, along with the overall Championship shield.
The fine and calm conditions made for excellent conditions, with several records being broken on the day. Congratulations to Isabel Hackett (U17 Shot Put), Emily Ramsay (Open 100m and 400m), Tess Kirsopp-Cole (U17 100m and 400m), Jessica McCarthy (U14 Long Jump) and the U14 & U17 4x100 relay teams who all set new records.
Congratulations to Connor Schmidtke (Year 9) placing 1st, Ethan Reeves (Year 9) placing 2nd and Beau Bartley (Year 7) placing 7th on their efforts at the School Sport Victoria Junior Secondary Golf Tournament, held at Melton Valley Golf Club.
Equestrian – Barwon Interschool’s Showjumping
A team of Christian College riders, led by Erin Young (Year 11) took part in the Barwon Interschool’s Showjumping event at Elcho Park. The conditions were cold, wet and windy, but that did not deter our riders and families.
Erin was joined by Jorja Kirsopp-Cole, Ethan Young, Bianca Lock, Eliza Bell, Rohan Lock and Georgia May.
Christian College placed 3rd overall on the day.
Individual top 3 overall results included; Bianca Lock, Champion - Intermediate.
Equestrian – Barwon Interschool’s Dressage
A small team of riders with Dressage interest and experience competed at the Royal Geelong A&P Society Interschool Dressage Day on May 2nd.
Christian College was led by Shanae Jenkinson (Year 9) and with Riley Taylor, Sophie Gallagher, Sophie Taylor, Georgia May and Eliza Bell placed 3rd.
Individual top 3 overall results included; Riley Taylor, Champion - Preparatory. Sophie Taylor, Reserve Champion - Preliminary (Primary) and Eliza Bell, Reserve Champion - Novice (Primary)
Ski and Snowboard Australia
Congratulations to Jakara Anthony (Year 11) who was awarded the Rising Star Award at the recently held Australian Ski and Snowboard Awards. Jakara is a mogul skier, who recorded some excellent results whilst competed in the United States over the Australian Summer.
3 on 3 Basketball
Christian College entered four teams in the Basketball Victoria 3 on 3 Championships at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. We acknowledge the performances of each team;
Junior Boys 5th; Connor Idun, Mitchell Vallance, Jack Speed and Indiana Schwidlewski.
Junior Girls 7th; Sachi Degiacomi, Chelsea Wigg, Breella Case and Cleo Schapp.
Intermediate Boys 4th; Connor Kennedy-North, Dane Hollenkamp, Ben Forde and Noah Hanneysee.
Intermediate Girls 9th; Isabell Hackett, Mali Herzer, Layla Hilderbrandt and Jessie Morrow
GISSA Netball Championships
Congratulations to the Senior Girls Netball team who won the GISSA Netball Championship. The College Intermediate team were also competitive placing Runner Up. The GISSA event is used as a warm up tournament for the teams as they prepare for the State Championships in Term 3.
