Christian College Bellarine and Junior School Belmont Campus have implemented fitness activities at the beginning of every school day for all the students from Years 1 to Year 4 with Prep joining the program in Term 2. This 10 minute regime encourages students to regularly exercise in a fun environment that will help improve cognitive functions like thinking and memory. This will enhance their learning throughout each day.
Each year level has an organised session, constructed by the head of Physical Education specifically for Junior School. The activities will change on a regular basis to add variety and challenge.
Two Grade 1 students expressed their views on the fitness sessions by stating ‘I like running around with my friends during fitness’ and ‘It’s great doing basketball because I like to bounce the ball’.
The teachers at Junior School agree that the Fitness sessions are proving to be a positive experience as students are more alert throughout the morning from the exercise session.
