The Year 9 Writer’s Workshop students from the Bellarine Campus recently had the opportunity to visit the Channel 7 Broadcast Centre to learn all about the processes involved in television programming and broadcasting.
John Deeks, Channel 7 announcer, took us on a comprehensive tour of the centre; through master control rooms, editing suites, the news centre, the ‘Talking Footy’ set and the Channel 7 News set.
Students were given the opportunity to walk on set, take a seat at the desk and experience what the world of television can be like in front of a camera and teleprompter.
Publicist and writer, Jason Volbeda then shared insights into the world of publicity and advertising and the crucial role that writing plays in this.
The students then moved on to the vastly multicultural environment of the Queen Victoria Market to do some character observations and research.
This excursion was enjoyed by all students and included many great learning experiences to take back to the classroom.
