Last week I visited each of the new facilities that have been completed since the 2010 College promotional DVD was produced. To say that the new library resource centre at Senior School and the multi-purpose sporting and performing arts facilities at Bellarine and Middle School have had an incredible impact on teaching and learning for our students, would be quite an understatement.

Whilst filming across two days to capture 5 minutes of highlights I had the joy to see a large number of our students enjoying these wonderful new learning spaces, benefitting from the excellent programs prepared and presented by their teachers.

I was also impressed by the way that the students appreciate and care for the new spaces that have been provided for their use.

The week concluded with the annual Christian College Music Evening at Costa Hall where our Music students performed to a sell out audience.

Each year this event leaves those in the audience feeling amazed by the incredible talent shown by the students from all campuses in each of the ensembles, choirs and bands concluding with a spell binding performance by the Senior Wind Symphony.

As I left the concert to walk to my car and head home, I overheard and chatted with numerous families who like myself, thoroughly enjoyed the feast of music provided by our students. Many were saying, ‘You really can't believe that these are students, because they actually perform like professional musicians.’

The night was a total success in every respect. It was topped off with one of our former students Edward Fairlie (2000) being the Guest Compere. Edward did a wonderful job introducing the performances with touches of humour and anecdotes from his time as a student before becoming a Music Educator, Performer and Composer.

Our entire Music team, students, staff and families can take a ‘huge bow’.
