Pop Up Café

Recognising a need for our Middle School students to have a Healthy Food Option to purchase at school has presented our Food Technology students with a real and exciting opportunity. We have decided to trial a “Pop up Café” as part of our program. The years 7, 8 & 9 students will be making a variety of healthy food options using fresh seasonal produce. The students will prepare and package the food items in their Food Technology class and sell their products at lunchtime in our Pop up Café located outside the Food Technology room. Price range will be between $2 - $8 and the items on offer will be written up on the café chalk board at the beginning of the day. Our first café will open on Thursday, September 1st, followed by Wednesday, September 7th.

Our vision for the café is to include other subject areas to become involved in this community café. Already our VCD students have been briefed on designing a café name and logo, outdoor space, sustainable food packaging and promotional materials. Some students have been busy making cushions for the outdoor seats and buntings to decorate the space. The music department will provide a rotation of up and coming Middle School artists to perform live at the café during opening hours to help create a friendly and inviting vibe around this space where students can come to eat, relax and mingle.
