Book Week 2016

Each year, across Australia, The Children’s Book Council of Australia brings children and books together celebrating Children’s Book Week. During this time Schools, Libraries, Booksellers, Authors, Illustrators and children celebrate Australian Children's Literature. The 2016 Book Week theme is “Australia! Story Country” so we have been looking at children’s books about Australia, but also how stories are told in their many forms.
In LITEhouse the Year 5 and 6 students created their own stories using Aboriginal symbols and dot painting. There were some very impressive and beautiful stories created.
Also in LITEhouse the students in Years 5 to 7 read all the picture story books shortlisted to win the CBCA Book of the Year, and cast their votes for the book they most favoured to win. Our astute judges have voted for their own People’s Choice Award, which will be compared to the official judges’ award. There are some interesting results!

Look for the report of the Junior Schools colourful and fun activities in next week's Vine.
