Sound and Light Open House for Years 1 and 2

Sound barriers, vibrations, musical instruments, reflections and refraction are a few of topics of discussions as the Year 1 and 2 students investigate Sound and Light. A number of fun and engaging experiments and activities have been completed and our little experts would love to share their learning with you.
On Friday, the 9th of September, families are invited to come and learn from the students what they have discovered throughout their Integrated Studies ‘Sound and Light’ unit. The open house will take place from 10 am - 11 am in the Year 2 classrooms and in the Music foyer for the Year 1 classes. We look forward to sharing this time together with you.

Year 1s Visit the Science Lab
Last Friday the Year 1 students ventured into Middle School territory as Mr. Healy shared his expertise and lead the students in a variety of activities relating to both light and sound. Our little scientists put on their lab coats and safety goggles before starting their investigations. Using light boxes and looking through different lenses were some highlights. While paper crackers, feeling vibrations of sound through a slinky and watching sugar dance on canisters engaged the students. It was a wonderful morning of hands-on explorations.
