Year 6 Geelong Botanical Gardens Excursion

Last Friday the Year 6 students capped off a busy and active week by visiting the Geelong Botanical Gardens. Students have been studying the Biology topic of Plants this term and the gardens provide a wonderful setting to reinforce the work covered in class. It was also a chance to spend time reflecting on their experiences of camp and the first major carnival of the year. Each group were guided on activities presented by experts in the field to provide context and insight into the diversity of life in the gardens. The importance and relevance of the gardens as a record of the cultural and historical development of Geelong over the last 150 + years was also outlined. Despite what must have been some very tired young people, the conduct of our students was entirely in keeping with the tranquility and serenity of the location.
