Our Town performances

After 3 months of rehearsal, discussions about character, chasing up period costume and grappling with American accents, Thornton Wilder's 'Our Town' was finally staged last weekend to highly appreciative audiences. It has long been an ambition to stage a play in the alternate year to the College musical, to give students more opportunity to experience the joy of performing to an audience and to experience the different challenges associated with a non-musical full length play. 24 students drawn from Senior School, Highton Middle School and Bellarine Middle School combined to present Wilder's well known play about life and love and the experience of being human. Year 12 student and first time actor Mitchell Ryan played George alongside Year 12 Drama student Faith Bailey as Emily and both delighted audiences with their moving performances as two young lovers experiencing the ups and downs of life. Other Senior School cast members included Lis Radtke and Emilie Crole as the narrators with Georgia Hermans, Jack McPhail, Brianna Ekberg and Patrick Corney as George and Emily’s parents.
