Annual Staff Retreat
The Annual Staff Retreat held at the conclusion of Term two has become a significant professional development tool for our staff over the years. It provides our teaching and non-teaching staff with the opportunity to share time in Christian fellowship, professional growth and to spend time together getting to know each other better as well as celebrating significant contributions that individual staff have made over the years.
This year we celebrated the following staff for their years of service to our College.
Chantelle Dalton, Laura Yates, Linda Reid, Heather Lagoudakis, Jeremy Wright, John Rose PSM, Mark Foran,Bruno Piccoli, Gayle Van Oosten, Mandy Calderwood, Ian Hogan, Andrew Allen, Laurie Treloar
Karen Friday, Geoffrey Trevaskis, Paul Carrigg, Zann Fist
Deborah Canaway, Stephen Cody, Glen McKeeman, Susan Strong, Margaret Baker
A particular highlight was the celebration of our Vice Principal, Mrs. Gwen Prosser and her outstanding service to Christian College. A very moving standing ovation provided by the entire staff at the Staff Dinner was an indication of the respect and admiration that the College community has for Gwen and the service she has given so faithfully throughout her 30 years. She has made a most significant contribution to the College.
The term break has been busy for a number of our students and staff. Our some of the Senior School prefects and Middle School Captains visited East Timor visiting the community of Viqueque and the schools to see and support projects that our College supports through our Project Care work across the campuses. Such experiences are life changing for these students.
A successful and rewarding tour of Malaysia was enjoyed by students studying Indonesian. The opportunity to visit village home staying in traditional housing provided wonderful memories and cultural experiences.
The term break was also a busy time for students in sporting endeavours. Our netballers performed extremely well to finish 4th in the State Championships and our Inter school Equestrian team was victorious in the State competitions held at Werribee Park.
Just prior to the break our Senior Footballers successfully qualified through to Semi Final stages of the Herald Sun Cup. This is the first time our boys have progressed past the quarter final stage.
Further details of these events will appear on the College website soon. www.christiancollege.vic.edu.au
I congratulate and thank all those who have supported and been involved in these activities.
Term 3 is shaping up to be a very exciting time.
