Burrows House Report
Burrows House students have tasted some success in recent weeks by winning both the House Maths/English Competition week and House Science quiz. House Drama and Wearable Art preparations continue apace with the students involved showing great imagination and enthusiasm. Our football team was less successful in winning their opening match of the House Footy Competition on Tuesday, however, the players on the field gave it their all and will approach their games against Taylor & Penman with renewed determination!
At this week’s House assembly, a number of House Badges were presented to Burrows students who have already collected enough points to qualify for a Semester Two badge. Up to two badges can be earnt each year by accruing participation points in the various House events. Burrows ‘Bear of the Week’ awards recognised achievements by Riley Doran (Y11) & Nicole Mayes (Y11) in winning the recent House Spelling Bee, the effort Georgia Hermans (Y12) is putting into Wearable Art and Caelli Wood (Y10) for her recent trip to Japan. Students and staff were also fortunate to hear a devotion from Mr. Peter Peake who retires at the end of this year after 25 years in Burrows house, including Head of House from 2000-2005. He shared with us his thoughts on ‘What makes Burrows different to the other houses?’ and encouraged Burrows students to always strive for excellence, exhibit persistence and to explore their faith. These are all characteristics we hope our students exhibit well into the future as well as during their time here at Senior School.
In recent weeks the individual House Groups have been enjoying Book week activities, some discussions about leadership and the odd watching of an Olympic event in their devotion times that start each day!
