Year 10 Update
As Year 10 students come to the end of their third term at Senior School, I can’t help but reflect on the amazing young people I have had the pleasure of working with so far this year. The students have participated in so many exciting activities and engaging course work. Currently we have a class travelling back to Geelong after their time in an Indigenous community, Outdoor Education classes are learning canoeing skills in preparation for Barmah camp next term and Geography students are filming promotional videos for Oxfam’s Close the Gap campaign. And that’s only a small snippet of what is going on in class at the moment!
One of my favourite times of year for Year 10 students is Futures Week, which occurred earlier this term. I love discussing pathways with students because they have so many opportunities available to them and we get to consider their strengths, interests and hopes for the future. Students engaged in a number of activities to help them research and pan for their futures, and this process will continue through Year 11 and 12. Also, our Careers Counsellors are always available to meet with students and families and continue the ‘Futures’ discussion.
