Cyber Safety And Digital Inclusion In Our Communities
We all know that the Web is a fantastic place to learn, stay connected and be creative, but with one in seven young Australians found to be victims of Cyber bullying each year, it is important that we invest in giving our students the skills they need to be responsible digital citizens.
The Australian Government’s Office of the Children’s eSafety Commissioner has some wonderful resources and in particular the ‘iParent’ portal. This site is where parents can learn about the digital environment and keep updated on their children’s technology use. You can find guidance for using safety settings on your family’s web-connected devices, tips for choosing movies and games and strategies for keeping young people safe online.
For seven ways parents can manage web connected devices in the home go to: https://www.esafety.gov.au/education-resources/iparent/7-ways-infographic*
Keep the conversation going with your child about being a safe and responsible digital citizen.
Please be aware that teaching staff are available if you have any concerns regarding cyber safety or digital citizenship.
