RU OK? Day at Senior School
Today was RUOK? Day and here at Senior School we marked the occasion with several activities that were designed to both encourage students and staff to relax and take time out to de-stress, as well as providing opportunities to mingle together and ask the question ‘Are you OK?’
Students were invited to dress in comfortable casual clothes and many were seen in their favourite tracksuit pants, pajamas and even some Ugg boots. After a visit from our CARE Council students who gave out yellow treats, House Groups were shown a short clip about empathy and encouraged to consider some Scriptural examples about connection, such as Mathew 11:28-29, “Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest.”
At lunchtime everyone enjoyed a visit from the local petting zoo, Farm2U, and many were seen relaxing with the baby animals, or enjoying a coffee or hot chocolate from the Coffee Van while upbeat music played.
Today we were reminded that we are stronger when we can share our ups and downs with one another, and we can make such a difference by asking the simple question “Are you OK?” and listening with empathy.
