Year 8 and Year 9 Real Talk Presentation
Last Tuesday the 11th of October, we were blessed to have Real Talk come in to speak to our Year 8 and 9 students around the topic of relationships, body language, decision making and identity. Gerrard, the guest speaker, was a very engaging presenter who captivated the students with his personal, relatable and sometimes funny stories. The students were challenged to think about what a good relationship looks like and how important it is to truly value yourself and others.
The presentation highlighted the importance for young people, knowing they are of great value, have a purpose and for them to have an understanding of the topics of relationships and sex. Young people today receive countless mixed messages about these topics, and can be unaware or confused about the precious gift they hold. It was great to be reminded that we are made in the image of God and have been created for a purpose.
Many students have commented on how much they enjoyed listening to the Real Talk and have appreciated the follow up we have done in the Health classes. The Real Talk presentation has also been followed up with a senior version at Year 10 at Senior School, something I am sure the Year 9 students will look forward to attending next year.
