Musical Talent On Show!
Christian College recently held the 2016 Annual Music Evening at Costa Hall, Deakin Waterfront.
It was an amazing evening with over 450 students performing across 18 ensembles, where for many, it was their first time performing in front of an audience. It was incredible to see how big our “Music Family” really is, and we were truly blessed to be able to share the talents that all our students have on such a night.
The Christian College Music Evening is an annual highlight on the College calendar. Each year audiences are blessed and enthralled by the musical feast that each of the ensembles perform on the Costa Hall stage.
The benefits that students gain from studying their musical instruments or from singing include the development of perseverance, self-discipline, concentration, cooperation and team work, to list just a few. Playing as part of an ensemble or singing in a choir also provides a sense of belonging, satisfaction from working well with others, whilst teaching the value of making a commitment.
This year our College musicians have dedicated themselves to numerous hours of rehearsal and practice. Together with their tutors, music teachers and ensemble leaders they have worked hard to reach the incredible performance level that we experienced last week.
Throughout the year the College Music Faculty have supported participation in a range of concerts, performances, Eisteddfods, camps and tours including a tour to Sydney to perform at the Opera House.
We have to thank the Directors of Music, Mrs Fiona Gardner and Mr Andrew Dunlop, for the many years they have dedicated to developing and growing our Music Program to reach an outstanding level of excellence. Together with the team of highly capable music staff, they provide our students with a program that is respected and regarded amongst the very best in the State, and indeed the Nation.
