The Careers Spot

There are 4 ways students can access their results from 7am on December 12 2016:

  1. To view your results online, log onto (note this site is only available from 7am December 12 2016) using your VCE student number and results service PIN. The default PIN is the first 4 digits of your birthdate, however you are strongly encouraged to change this prior to the release of results.

  2. To get your results by SMS on the morning they are released, register by sending your VCE student number (without the letter) and PIN ie - student number (eight digits only, not the letter) space PIN (4 digits) - to 19 787 888 ($1.10 incl GST). Registration is open from Monday November 7 until midnight Sunday December 11. Requests sent after this may be delayed. Ensure your mobile is registered to receive and send premium text messages

Salmat – SMS cost $1.10 max (incl. GST). Obtain bill payer’s permission before using this service. Call 1800 501 083 for help with registration.

SMS results are reported by using the first two alpha characters and numbers of the study. For example, Further Mathematics is represented by MA07, Mathematical Methods by MA11 and Specialist Mathematics by MA09.

Students should be aware that scored VCE VET studies (such as VCE VET Business and VCE VET Hospitality) only have two graded assessments – one school-based and one exam.

To find out more about VCE examination results, a statement of marks can be obtained. Further information is available on the VCAA website:

  3. All current VCE students will receive a statement of VCE study scores from the VCAA. However, only students who have applied for courses through VTAC this year and have paid their VTAC processing fees will be sent an ATAR statement in the mail. Students who have not applied for courses can request an ATAR statement from the VTAC website: Administrative costs apply.

VCE and VCAL certificates are distributed by schools and colleges, rather than mailed with the results.

  4. A new option for Year 12 students to receive their ATAR and scaled study scores this year: via the VTAC CourseSearch app. An update to the app will allow students to enter their VTAC ID and PIN to access their 2016 ATAR and contributing scaled scores. This service will be available free of charge to all users of the app who have a VTAC account. Students who don’t already have the app can download it from Google Play or the Apple App Store for $1.49 (inc. GST). The updated version will be released in November, with existing users able to update free of charge.

Current Victorian Year 12 students are now able to change their Results Service PIN through the link on the home page of their VTAC account:

The Results Service PIN (along with the VCE student number) is needed to access VCE Results and the ATAR through the web or SMS services. By default, the Results Service PIN is the first four digits of the student’s birth date (e.g. 0302 for 3 February). We encourage Year 12 students to secure their results by changing the Results Service PIN to four digits of their choice prior to the release of results on Monday 12 December.
