From the Head of Senior School
The last day of Year 11 Classes are Monday 14th November. Their final assembly is held in the afternoon, at which each departing student is spoken about. The Year 11 students lead the assembly and it is always a most moving occasion. It marks their transition to Year 12.
I wish to show appreciation for all of the work the Year 11 Co-ordinators, Ms Mandy Calderwood and Ms Georgia Barber, have done for the year. The tireless work is often unseen but is sincerely appreciated. Their ability to truly understand their students is clearly evident and so many have had such good years due to this care.
The Year 11 examinations commence on Tuesday 15th November. We have tried to ensure that these assessments are as close to those in Year 12 so that they may gain the experience.
On Wednesday 16th November the Senior VCAL Transition program commences and there the students will be experiencing team building sessions as well as commencing their studies for the following year. We have several Year 11 VCAL students leaving us at the end of the year due to gaining apprenticeships or traineeships. This is a marvellous result and a credit to the leadership of Ms Kerryn Fearnsides and the teachers in Ms Madi O’Keefe, Ms Kylie O’Brien and Ms Natalie Knite.
The current VCAL class has a waiting list which is testimony to the success of the program.
Friday 18th November is the last day of Year 10 classes and their final Service is on Tuesday 22nd November.
The Year 11 and 12 VCE Transition Program commences on Wednesday 23rd November concluding on the 30th November.
On Wednesday 30th November there is an examination feedback morning and in the afternoon is the Senior School Presentation afternoon at Costa Hall. I hope you are able to attend on this afternoon as the awards shall be given along with farewelling staff and the announcement of the College Captains for 2017. There will also be various performance items that will entertain all.
Year 12 Graduation
The highlight of the Year 12 year is the Graduation Service at Costa Hall and the Graduation Dinner at The Pier on Sunday 20th November. We remind families that all are welcome for the Graduation Service. This is where the students walk across the stage to be presented individually. All Year 12 students are to be in full school winter uniform (blazer and jumper NOT required) with hair tied back and the boys must be clean shaven.
Our keynote speaker this year is Dr Dave Fuller who is a parent and College Board Member, as well as an excellent speaker.
