New Games for Christmas

After studying forces and simple machines, Year 7 Science students were challenged to apply their understanding and creativity by inventing a new toy or game that showcased one or more machine.

The students also had to detail all measurements in their design brief and explain how they tackled the engineering problems that arose. And they were not allowed to buy any of the components! The laboratories were transformed into thriving workshops as the students put together assorted odds and ends to create ramps, levers, pulleys and gears. All inventions were put through rigorous testing prior to showcasing each game in front of the rest of the class.  Some students have even taken advantage of the world wide web to fast track sales to the Australian market in time for Christmas! The students had a lot of fun dreaming up their toys ending their year of Science on a high.
