From the Head of Senior School

I wish to sincerely thank all families of Senior School for their support this year. It has been an interesting year with many successes and challenges.

I look back on the Prefect Investiture in February with pride at inducting our student leaders and new staff. The swimming and athletics carnivals provided a fantastic opportunity for new and old students to gather and cheer on their house.

The Debutante balls in May were the culmination of months of rehearsing and all students were well presented on the night. The families gathered in great numbers and it was a highlight of the year for the Year 11 students.

The House events in cooking and drama were of a high standard and were well attended.

We had tragedy also, but what came from that was a gathering of our community and realigning to us, of what is important in life.

The Celebration Day was changed and allowed our Year 12 students to finish with dignity. The formal breakfast was excellent with all students in attendance. The clock tower was an emotional time for many students. Their final service was a time to reflect in God’s presence and the devotion and singing were inspirational. Upon their departure all Year 12 were led by a piper down the driveway with all Year 10 and 11 students cheering.

The Graduation Service and Dinner were a fitting end for our Year 12 students. At Graduation we were privileged to hear from Dr Dave Fuller as well as seeing every Year 12 student march across the stage as a graduand, to become a graduate.

The Senior School Presentation Afternoon was a celebration of our campus. The College Captains for 2017 were announced and they are Briella Egberts and Cameron Chandler. Both students are fine young people in God’s image and will lead us well next year.

The Year 10 2017 Transition was a great opportunity for teachers to meet their students for next year as well as commence their learning. At the same time the 2017 Prefects had their training program which included the traditional river walk as well as time to build as a team.

I wish to sincerely thank all the staff for their dedication and willingness to go that “little bit extra”. This value adds and sets us apart from other schools.

To the families, thank you for allowing us to educate your child, a responsibility that we shall never take for granted.

Finally to the most important group we have, the students. You are all amazing in what you bring each and every day. Your contributions are many and shape the great school we have.

I wish you all a blessed Christmas and a restful and safe holiday.

Best wishes,

Graeme Dent, Head of Senior School
