Year 3 - Maths

As a part of their addition unit, the Year 3 students worked in small groups and made journeys around Australia on a map.

In this task, they had to make sure that they visited every capital city in Australia in any order. They then had to add up the distances they had journeyed in kilometers. Students initially thought that the most kilometres travelled was better, but a thought-provoking discussion enabled students to think about the pros and cons of working this way.

Lessons like this help students collaborate and demonstrate their learning in a practical manner.
