'Japanese Girl's Day' Festival Activity

'Hinamatsuri', also called 'Dolls Day or Girls' Day', is a special day in Japan.

Hinamatsuri is celebrated each year during the month of March. Japanese families with daughters wish the happiness and healthy growth of their girls by displaying special dolls. Our Year 2 and 3 students learned about the festival and enjoyed making their own Hina dolls.

The Year 2 students carefully folded origami papers to make 'Emperor' and 'Empress' dolls. The Year 3 students made carefully detailed Hina puppets. An array of Japanese culture and history was explored through the completion of these tasks.
