Year 4 Swimming Carnival
The Year 4 students participated in the end of term swimming carnival on Friday, March 24th at the Middle School Sports and Aquatic Centre. Students were able to showcase two strokes, freestyle and backstroke, as well as participate in the Novelty races to earn points for their Houses.
Students joined in a team parade and House chant at the start of the event. We were treated to a rousing rendition of the national anthem from Mrs Carr, while Mr Foran enjoyed his time as MC and Mr Johnstone and Ms Jen Beck-Carlson assisted greatly with the Novelty races. One of the highlights was the ‘Teacher Water Displacement Challenge’.
I would like to acknowledge the work from our three swimming teachers: Bree, Michelle and Ali, as well as Brad Morris. They did a great job continuing to develop the skills of each of the students. All students displayed a great attitude throughout the term-long program and everyone involved had a positive experience. The winning team of the Novelty events was Flynn, followed by Burrows, Taylor and Penman.
Year 4 - 9 House Athletics & Sport Activity Day
On Wednesday, March 29th, Year 4 students ventured back to Middle School to participate in the Year 4-9 House Athletics and Sport Activity Day. We had very favourable weather conditions and all students had a great time competing in Track and Field events, as well as Novelty events.
It was a great opportunity for all the Year 4 students to be involved in organised events and activities, and we thank the Middle School staff and students for being so inclusive. There was a great atmosphere all day, with lots of support given by each House. A big thank you to Mr Johnstone and Mrs Carr for leading and supporting the students all day. It was great to see many parents there and we thank you for your support and assistance on the day.
Congratulations to the winning House, Taylor, and all the students who will progress to the next stage with their events. Students will be notified in due course. Medals will be presented to students at the next assembly for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd highest individual points.
