Over the last two weeks, Mathematics in Prep has focused on the topic of ‘Measurement’.
The children have participated in a range of activities with the aim of building and reinforcing their knowledge and understanding of this area of work. Some of the activities the children have completed have included measuring different items using informal units such as icy pole sticks, pieces of wool and unifix cubes - as well as ordering a set of objects according to their length and comparing the heights of fellow students.
The children have also been able to apply their knowledge and use their thinking skills as they have accessed measurement activities through the Interactive Whiteboard and our class set of laptops.
Over the next week, our Prep mathematicians will be continuing with this topic as they are encouraged to investigate the areas of mass and capacity.
