Mothers' Day Tabloid Sports and Sack Race

Last Friday, Junior School celebrated the annual 'Mother's Day Tabloid Sports and Sack Race'. Working in groups, all the Year 4 students cooperated well to conduct 16 activities for all Prep to Year 3 students. From the old favourite activities - like the egg and spoon and sack races - to football and netball activities, students competed for House points, with Taylor House winning the day.

The Year 4 students did a great job organising the equipment, explaining and running the event. It was pleasing to see all these students take this leadership opportunity and provide enjoyment for other students at the school.

The day was well supported, with lots of parents attending to watch their children participate in up to eight activities. We had 20 mothers enter the Mother's Day Sack Race. The students saved their loudest cheers for the day in the three heats and final. Corrine Chalmers once again took the honours, completing a hat trick of wins!

We would like to acknowledge the support from Bakers Delight in Highton for trophies and gift vouchers for this race. They also kindly donated Breast Cancer Network Australia tote bags for all entrants in the sack race. Once again, they supplied a roll and scone for each student at the school. We appreciate the ongoing support from Bakers Delight in Highton.
