Measurement Unit - Year 3

What is the capacity, mass and length of your drink bottle?

The Year 3 students have been busy exploring various forms of measurement. They have been challenging their thinking by estimating the mass, capacity and length of a range of objects, then comparing their accuracy by measuring the object. The weekend could be a good opportunity for the students to apply their skills by measuring out butter, sugar and milk to hopefully produce some well-balanced and flavoured recipes.

The students have been making links by recognising that the mass of objects can be interchangeable as either kilograms or grams. There was great debate over the average weight of a bicycle, with most of the students predicting a higher than 15kg mass. Parents may need to watch their scales carefully for all the mythbusters out there!
