The Unit 3 and 4 Physical Education classes recently attended BioLab Science Centre in Belmont to take part in practical sessions, focussed on some of the key concepts from the Unit 3 coursework.
This provided a great opportunity for students to make connections and apply their knowledge in a practical setting. Year 11 student James Jirik from the Senior School peloton was lucky to have his VO2 Max tested. He was pushed to the limit, and his ability to take in and utilise oxygen was measured.
He achieved a result of 65ml of Oxygen per KG of body weight, per minute. This ranked him in the elite category, which is a fanstastic result. The students enjoyed their time at the BioLab and it provided a wonderful learning opportunity.
