Welcome to Term 3
Dear Middle School - Highton families,
Welcome back to Term 3!!
We have enjoyed a wonderful, albeit cold start to Semester 2 this week, with staff appreciating the smiling faces and vibrant arrival of our students.
We welcome many new students and families to our College community this term and pray that you’re feeling connected and valued at the conclusion of our first week. We also welcome new staff to our Middle School; Mrs Brighid Mantelli (Music), Mrs Helen Purnell (Mathematics), Mrs Tracey Mayes (Learning Support), Mrs Leanne Crole (Learning Support) and Ms Felicity van Kan (Art/Technology). It is going to be a busy term and I am excited about the many rich learning opportunities that are ahead for our young people.
Our staff had the privilege to all stand at the gates on Tuesday morning to welcome (handshake and high five!) our students as they arrived back for their Term 3 studies. This was purposeful in encouraging our students as valued and loved members of our community. A significant part of our community, alongside staff and parents, are the 620 young people that breath life and learning into our Campus each and every day. Although a small gesture on Tuesday morning, it was wonderful to see the continued connection, relationship and respect between our staff and students. Something we are very proud of.
We were encouraged in our commencement assembly around the notion of community, in particular, our College Principal Mr Glen McKeeman motivated our community, reminding us that we are all called to do ‘good works’ (Ephesians 2:8-10), and first and foremost, that ‘good work’ is to reflect the love that Christ has for us to all people in all that we do.
I look forward to partnering with you and your family, alongside our staff this semester.
Mr Tony Costa
Head of Campus
