Geelong North Division Girl's Football Round Robin - Year 5 & 6

It was a cold and windy day at Ervin Reserve yesterday where 20 schools across the Geelong North Division took to the fields. Each school battled through 4 round robin matches to secure a place in their pool which then determined a final between the placings of each. 20 of our year 5 and 6 girls simply rose to the occasion and played with determination, perseverance and all in great spirit. Their tackling and running play was a definite highlight of the day with teammates running from everywhere for support. Work around the scrimmages was outstanding with Amelia Cunningham, Abby Umhauer, Jess Deretic and Lily Petterwood working overtime to advance the ball forward. Ally Cormack and Caitlin Deretic enjoyed the swift pickups and speedy play along the wing towards the goals with Emily Birch, Ruby Lockman and Sky Greenwood laying some spectacular tackles which saw the team finishing the day with one win, a draw and three losses (all under 12 points). All heads were held high as the girls departed exhausted, yet completely energized with what they had experienced and achieved as a team.
