From the Head of Senior School
The Year 12 (Unit 3 and 4) Student Conferences were extremely well attended on Tuesday afternoon and evening. It was an opportunity for parents and their children to receive valuable feedback. Staff also reported they received feedback that will enable them to teach your child in a better way. We see these Student Conferences as part of the necessary communication for successful learning. The other aspect is the regular in-time reporting, where teachers report to you as assessment and progress are both made.
Our next Student Conferences are on Thursday, 7th September from 10am to 8pm, which is a student-free day. If at any time you require information or feedback, please email the relevant staff member or your child’s Year Level Coordinator.
The Subject Selection went online yesterday and closes on Friday, 11th August. It is important that the selection has been based on research from current teachers, family and careers advice. Tertiary websites often provide information relating to any prerequisites. Details of how to apply online has been sent to all parents and students. If you have any questions or queries, please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Jason O’Loughlin at the Senior Campus on 5241 1577.
Naga High School visit
Our friends from the Naga High School arrived on Thursday evening and their host families were so excited to receive their guest. We need to express our appreciation for the willingness of our families to host a student from Japan. Friendships are forged and shall last for many years. There will be reports on the visit in the next edition of The Vine.
Grand Final of the Herald Shield Country Cup
Just an update on our Senior Boys Football. Their opponents for the Semi-Finals forfeited. As a result, we are straight through to the Grand Final of the Herald Shield Country Cup! This is the first time a team from Christian College Geelong has ever achieved this. Well done!
Our opponents in the Grand Final will be Ballarat and Clarendon College. This match will be held in Ballarat at Sebastopol Football Club on Tuesday, 15th August at 10.30am. The boys hope to depart Senior School at 8.30 am sharp. Please try and support the boys by going and watching the game. They have done so well to get to this position.
GISSA Inter and Senior Soccer
We have our Boys teams competing next Tuesday, with the Girls playing on the Thursday. All teams are strong and many students tried out for all teams. We wish them all the best in their matches.
East Timor Trivia Night
The annual East Timor Trivia is on Friday, 11th August at the Geelong West Town Hall. Tables are filling fast, so please contact Senior School Campus if you are interested in attending. It is the only fundraiser for this very worthy cause.
