Year 4 – Multiplication Strategies
During a recent Mathematics lesson on multiplication, one rotation group was challenged to apply their knowledge of multiplication strategies in a game called ‘Multiplication Paddocks’.
The object of the game was to roll two dice and use the digits rolled to create a multiplication array on the game sheet, strategically placing the array into a space that secures the squares or ‘paddocks’ available. The game becomes more challenging as the available squares reduce, requiring a greater amount of strategic thinking to place arrays in different forms and obtain the most paddocks.
