Sports News

On Tuesday 15th August, Junior School had a group of 42 students from Year 3 and 4 participate in the 'Hoop Time' Basketball tournament at The Arena, North Geelong.

There were a total of 34 teams playing over three divisions on the day. Although it felt chaotic, the Junior School students did an amazing job, playing four or five games over the day. It was pleasing to see the students display such positive teamwork, effort, attitude and respect towards others in all matches.

All rookie teams achieved successful results. In the 'Future Stars' Division, the Highton Heat lost by 1 point in the Semi-Final, and Highton Giants finished second in their pool. Both teams lost just one game for the day, to the eventual winner in that division.

A huge thank you to Mr Mark Foran and Mr James Johnstone for coaching and helping out on the day. Nick Owusu and Brenton O’Brien did a great job coaching both Future Stars teams. I would like to acknowledge the huge effort by Flora Murdoch, our College's Basketball and Netball Administrator. She organised uniforms, paperwork and equipment for 10 teams and scored all day.

If your child has gained an interest in Basketball, I encourage you to contact Flora to get involved in our College's Basketball program at school. Please see details below.
