Sovereign Hill Camp - Year 5
Last week, the Bellarine Year 5 students joined their Middle School Highton counterparts for a three-day camp to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat.
Cold, windy, but most importantly, dry weather accompanied the students as they explored what life was like during the Gold Rush of the 1850’s. Activities such as mine tours, musket firing and role play of a miner’s daily life helped to reinforce the students’ current History study topics.
Gold panning was a hit with many students looking to find their fortunes. An energetic bush dance on the Thursday night, and a trip to the M.A.D.E. Museum to learn about the Eureka Stockade on the Friday, rounded off a fantastic time of learning and companionship.
