Platinum Award at Music Festival

The Highton Intermediate Concert Band and the Senior Wind Symphony both performed in the Victorian Schools’ Music Festival in the regional session held in Geelong on August 17th and 18th. Both bands performed for 2 adjudicators who critiqued their musicality, accuracy and interpretation of the set pieces while following the score and recording their comments. Following their performances each group took part in an on-stage workshop with the Chief adjudicator Dr Ralph Hultgren. Both bands came away from the experience receiving compliments for their work and as well some suggestions from Dr Hultgren regarding developing their musicality and accuracy further. The groups are marked against a list of criteria for an award – both the Highton Intermediate Concert Band and The Senior Wind Symphony received a ‘Platinum Award’ in their respective divisions, the highest award possible at the festival.

Congratulations to the students of both of these bands for their good work, commitment and superb way in which they have represented the College.
