Science - Year 9 Boys Back in the Lab!

It is lovely to be able to focus on discussion about where chemical reactions occur in our everyday lives with a small group of boys, while our girls are at Back Creek Rural. Interestingly, the examples brainstormed have been of this nature: petrol station explosions, sparkler bombs, car motor starting, hydrogen bombs, degreaser and black powder (used in rifles)! This week the boys have been focusing on neutralisation reactions, and only a few succeeded in achieving the perfect 7, green, neutral solution after mixing various dilutions of acids and bases. Grady and Corey were determined to meet the  challenge and were obviously happy with their results!
