Investigating the Effects of Acid Rain - Year 9

The latest challenge in Year 9 Science is for the boys to investigate the different reaction rates between various forms of calcium carbonate (limestone, marble, shell) and different acids.

They are counting the number of bubbles of CO2, observing the height of bubbles and measuring the volume of gas produced using quite complicated apparatus set ups. It is a chance for the boys to work on an independent project, adapting their methodology as they discover flaws in their initial ideas. They are starting to work as 'real' scientists do!
